My Super Bowl Sunday will consist of gorging from a buffet of crock pots and imbibing many adult beverages. I am hosting a party and will be in the company of my very diverse friends who are straight, gay, bisexual and try-sexual. We will gather together for good times sake and to watch (what will hopefully be) an exciting game. Part of the fun is watching the commercials and seeing the lengths companies will go to for the sake of spreading their name and selling their products. Unfortunately, CBS will not be airing the commercial by gay dating website Mancrunch.com. A perfect opportunity to spread the message of tolerance to the masses and CBS chumps out.
I am made nauseous upon the sight of sappy eHarmony commercials. Or how about those hypersexualized Go Daddy spots? What may not suit my tastes, may be perfectly fine for others and vice versa. I respect that. For future reference Super Bowl viewers, if a commercial such as the one for Mancrunch.com is so disturbing to you, I would encourage you to watch but if it is just too much to bear, I suggest getting a drink, talking to your friends or helping yourself to another round of food during those 30 seconds. Someone else may be interested in seeing the commercial.
Thankfully Wanda Sykes made light of the situation and hit back at CBS on her show Saturday night. There really is humor to be found in all of this and someday we will look back and laugh. Enjoy the game folks!
