Let's Go To The Movies

Hello darlings. I recently watched two knockout films which I highly recommend. Both are high in fashion content in their own unique ways. The first I watched from the comfort of my couch and the second was on a movie date with my three boyfriends. One evening while being a (very ill) couch potato and surfing the Roku, I came across a flick after my own heart full of beading and sequins. My mind was BLEE-HOWN when I watched Pageant

The transformations of these men are beyond impressive and they're quite the characters. The hair, the makeup (facial contouring at its finest).... the gowns, the taping, the shaping... did I mention backup dancers, sets and props?! A very close Superstylin* source gave me the skinny on one of the contenders and I can't say I'm surprised by what I heard. (Girl just doesn't know when to stop!) My roomie and I totally want to go see the next crowning.

Last night I went to see Black Dynamite at a midnight showing. The star of the film, Michael Jai White, and director Scott Sanders were there for the screening so we were treated to a little Q&A sesh after the viewing. I can't remember the last time I had laughed so much and sooooo hard at a film. Like laugh from-the-deepest-part-of-my-gut type of laugh and loud to boot. If you were in hysterics during the film, thank you for your sense of humor. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

As soon as I left the movie last night, I couldn't wait to see it again. Note to self: Must buy DVD as soon as it is available. How fun it must have been to be the costume designer. The soundtrack is pretty rockin' too. The following is for audiophiles about the smooth sounds of Black Dynamite.
