(L-R) Tabitha Simmons, Gianvito Rossi, Aperlai
As a woman of a certain stature, my outfits and posture can always use a little boost. (I am taller than Prince by an inch and a half.) Given my hillside location and after a nasty spill downhill, my daily shoe choice sides with practicality and always falls a little flat. That's not to say I do not love and marvel at teetering stilettos and sky-high platforms. The higher the heel, the taller I am!
I recently watched a documentary entitled God Save My Shoes. A definite MUST SEE for shoe aficionados and fetishists alike. Manolos, Louboutins and the eponymous designers are aplenty in the film. Designers Pierre Hardy and Walter Steiger also have very welcomed screentime. Soon after my viewing, an article tauting the next wave of luxury footwear designers was published including Nicholas Kirkwood, Charlotte Olympia and Tabitha Simmons. Personally I would like to add Jerome C. Rousseau, Sophia Webster and Aperlai to the list.
