Tunes Makin' Me Move

Every so often I make a compilation of tunes when my music library needs a little sprucing up.  I have given out copies as party favors and always make sure to burn one for my BFF Patrick. Sometimes the discs are comprised of fresh new sounds (to me at least) and occasionally timeless songs are mixed in for good measure. Before I drove home for the Christmas holiday, I made a beta version of my latest year-end/new year mix. The title of the compilation is TBD but I have a few working titles. Now I present you the latest music gracing my ears and being bumped in my car. (Make sure to mouse over each entry for various links.)

Amanda BlankDJ (Viking Mix)

MadconBeggin' (Original version) - Norwegian hip hop...Yes please! Extra points for this song since it was used on So You Think You Can Dance. Reader bonus: the awesome dance by Nappy Tabs for your viewing pleasure.

Major LazerKeep It Goin' Louder and Pon de Floor - How much do I love me some Diplo?! I have been majorly crushing on him for forevs. The styling in the videos may not be everyone's cup of tea but I appreciate it on so many levels. Three cheers for creativity and non-cookie cutter looks.

Mary J. Blige: I Am - new stuff from the prolific MJB. She is in a class of her own. When she performed on SYTYCD the backup dancers were dressed in her signature looks from over the years. My fave is the "Real Love" look.  I love how her style has evolved.

Jay-Z featuring Alicia KeysEmpire State of Mind - my homage to a place I dream of calling home once again.

The XXCrystalised - I was introduced to the XX by a trusted source I met 10 years ago. I had a MAJOR crush on him then and I still do. Not to mention he makes a mean fennel salad. He made the claim they will be all over Fashion Week. We'll see what happens in February at the fall shows...

Something A La ModeLittle Bit of Feel Good - I found this gem on one of my super secret music blogs. As much as I love electronic beats, I am a sucker for strings. Can't help it- I played the cello as a kid. This song has been heavily on repeat. Enjoy!
